In addition to personal task assistant features (task management, reports & filtering), Workstreams Voice also lets you talk to your Workstreams taskboard – updating your entire team as a result. Using just your voice, your can create, assign, and edit tasks on your taskboard for everyone to see, just as you would on the regular Workstreams application.

How to connect to your team to Workstreams Voice

To use Workstreams Voice with its full potential you need to connect with your taskboard first, where you want to have full control over all tasks per voice. There are multiple ways to connect with your main taskboard depending on your current situation and device.

Via Webapp:

If you are coming from a device where you have access to your Workstreams taskboard then you can connect your Google Assistant device with just 3 clicks.

  1. Go to the taskboard you want to connect to.

  2. Click on the speaking-person-icon next to the gear icon for channel settings. A new dialog with additional information will open.

  3. Click on the ’Get Workstreams Voice’ button.

(If you have Google Assistant on your current device installed, it will open Google Assistant and start Workstreams Voice automatically. You are now connected.)
  1. A new tab will open in your browser to the Workstreams Voice Google Action page. (Make sure you are logged in with the

    same account you are using on your Google Assistant device).
  2. A new dialog ‘Send to device’ will appear. Choose your device you want to send the Workstreams Voice Action to and click ‘Send’

  3. On your Google Assistant Device appears a push notification with the message ‘Try Workstreams’. Accept it and that’s it, you are now connected with your taskboard!

Via Slack:

You can also connect with a slack channel by talking directly to our Workstreams bot.


Remember:Workstreams has to be a member of that channel you want to connect with.
  1. Open a Slack channel you want to connect with.

  2. Type into the channel: @Workstreams voice

  3. Workstreams will reply to you with a message and a button ‘Get Workstreams Voice’. Click the button.

(If you are using Slack on your Google Assistant Device, Google Assistant will open and start Workstreams Voice automatically. You are now connected.)
  1. Your default browser of the device will open on the Workstreams Voice Action in the Google Assistant Actions Directory.

  2. A new dialog ‘Send to device’ will appear. Choose your device you want to send the Workstreams Voice Action to and click ‘Send’

  3. On your Google Assistant Device appears a push notification with the message ‘Try Workstreams’. Accept it and that’s it!

Via Google Assistant:

(currently only devices with screen supported)

If you have only your Google Assistant Device currently on you, there is also an easy way to connect with your taskboard. Just follow these steps:

  1. Open Google Assistant on your device by clicking on the app icon or by saying ‘Hey Google’

  2. After the app opens, say: ‘Talk to Workstreams’

  3. If you are using Workstreams Voice for the first time, you have to complete the tutorial. Do not worry. It will take you less than 1 minute.

  4. To connect with your taskboard say: ‘Connect me’

  5. A card will appear with additional information and a button ‘Connect me’. Click the button.

  6. Your default web browser of your device will open where you have to login in your slack workspace.

  7. A dialog will open on the Workstreams Web Application. Select the team and the channel you want to connect to.

  8. That’s it, you are now connected. Go back to your Google Assistant and ask Workstreams about a summary or create new tasks.

Assigning tasks to team members

After connecting Workstreams Voice to your taskboard, you can start using it to assign tasks to your team members just like you would in the Workstreams web app. If you assign a task using Workstreams Voice, others will also immediately see the tasks you assigned on their taskboard in the app, whether they use Workstreams Voice or not.

Important: Keep in mind that anyone you want to assign a task to has to be part of a channel that’s been connected to Workstreams Voice.

Switch between workspaces

After connecting Workstreams Voice to your team’s taskboard, you are free to create and update tasks for everyone on your team to see. If you request a report, it will also include tasks specifically from the connected taskboard.

To go back to your personal tasks, tell the application to switch to your personal workspace. The same is true when you want to go back to your team workspace and work there.
