Workstreams Voice is a highly experimental product on the bleeding edge of the voice revolution. This is very exciting! Sometimes, though, it also means that performance can vary depending on your internet connection, your operating system, and your device. Please exercise patience if you hit a snag while setting it up or putting it to use.

That being said, we know the essential tricks to try out in the event that the program is not working absolutely perfectly. Have a look at the scenarios below.

Getting Started: How to Talk to Workstreams Voice

In order to get Workstreams Voice up and running, you first need a Google account and a Google-connected device, such as a smartphone, or a Google Home device. Once you have one of those, you can set up Workstreams Voice by doing the following:

For Android:
  1. Talk to Google Assistant and by pressing your home button and saying “Hey Google.”

  2. Then say, “Talk to Workstreams.”

  3. The device should answer with a tutorial.

For iOS:
  1. Go to Apple’s App Store.

  2. Download the Google Assistant App.

  3. Talk to Google Assistant by saying “Hey Google.”

  4. Then say, “Talk to Workstreams.”

  5. The device should answer with a tutorial.

Workstreams Voice doesn’t start or doesn’t recognize me.

Don’t worry if this is happening to you. It’s a common issue that might have to do with your Google Home settings – and can easily be fixed.

To readjust your Google Home settings, do the following:

  1. Go to myaccount.google.com and select ‘Data & personalization’

  2. Select 'Web & App Activity' and switch it on when the Activity Controls page appears.

  3. Hit the checkbox next to 'Include Chrome history and activity from sites, apps, and devices that use Google services.'The next steps differ depending on the device.

Workstreams Voice only doesn’t recognize me when I use Google Home.

It can be the case that you’ve already completed the Workstreams Voice tutorial after your first use, or already connected to with your Slack team via voice, but can’t access this information the next time you use the voice application on Google Home.

If the tutorial runs again as if you are a new user, some privacy settings on Google Home might be stopping you from accessing your workspace. To fix this, you can double-check the minimum required Google Home settings.

To double-check the minimum required Google Home settings, do the following:

  1. Go to your Google Home App.

  2. First, just see if the device you want to use Workstreams Voice on is currently connected by selecting your device and seeing if it is available.

  3. If that is ok, you can also open device settings, scroll down and switch on 'Personal results.’

I’m having difficulty using Workstreams Voice with multiple team members

  2. First, just see if the device you want to use Workstreams Voice on is currently connected by selecting your device and seeing if it is available.
